Teaser trailer for a documentary film by Merete Mueller and Christopher Smith, about the tiny house movement.
TINY is a feature length documentary about the ways we find ourselves at home.
Following one man’s attempt to build a tiny house from scratch in the mountains of Colorado, the film is a meditation on the relationship of home to environment, of quality and simplicity to a life well lived.

Tom Loosemore is the Deputy Director at the UK's Government Digital Services and was responsible for the recent launch of a single domain, user centred government website - gov.uk. In his talk at our product management conference Mind the Product 2012 he discussed the genesis of that project and how he and his team managed to revolutionise the government's approach to digital. It's a fabulous lesson in how to make space for proper, agile, user-centric product management in any large organisation.

Cyril Snear have announced the release of their second album Riot Of Colour, out April 15th 2013 on their own Weatherface Records, with lead-off track ‘How Presidential Of You?’ preceding it.
Fully emerging shortly before their debut LP Fluent In Seven Types Of Monotone in 2009, the Manchester-based four-piece have since watched on as fads and fashions sweep through the city since its musical renaissance towards the end of the last decade; but they themselves? They’re a band that emerge from its cultural catacombs only when they feel they’ve a definitive statement to make.
Ahead of its release, the chameleonic group have revealed the video for its lead-off track, ‘How Presidential Of You’ With a malicious, razorblade sharp opening riff, the track is the group at their most confrontational, an explosion of vitriol against the forced-disillusionment set on western society by a generation of corrupt politics.
For many this will be an introduction to them, and the video – made by drummer Nicholas Roe’s brother Ian Roe – captures the intensely claustrophobic, up-close feel of the song, the group exploding in a tumult of visceral rage. The track can be downloaded for a ‘pay-as-you-like’ price from the band’s website or bandcamp, and comes with B-side ‘Loitering With Intent’.
The group will be launching their album with a special launch show at The Deaf Institute in Manchester on Saturday April 13th, 2013.

After the great response to SUNCHASER STAR TRAILS (vimeo.com/54741100), my brave team and I trekked to the world-famous Eureka Dunes in Death Valley National Park to search for some of the darkest skies on Earth. Despite temps below freezing, we went on December 13th, 2012 – the night of the Geminid Meteor Shower Peak, and a time of great planetary alignment. Armed only with boxed wine, firewood, and our DSLRs, we had to conquer epic climbs, sand roads with the 4x4 Jeep, and the occasional UFO!
But it was all worth it when the skies cleared and showed us an incredible galactic palette! Star Trails shot at 25 sec exposures. No special effects used, just the rotation of the earth's axis. Photography Merging: STARSTAX. Used Canon 5D & 7D, with a 24mm/1.4 lens and a 28mm/1.8. The Geminids get crazy as the sun comes up (2:20-2:35) but you can spot a bunch more throughout, if you look closely -- or here's a nice shot (bit.ly/SkZGdw). There's also some passing planets (1:15-1:30 and 2:15-2:25). I believe the first big one is Jupiter.
The "UFO" appears at (1:30-1:35) and makes three broad circular sweeps over the desert. Though in timelapse it appears to be moving fast, consider the 5 seconds = about 50 minutes, so it's creeping. There was no sound, so it definitely wasn't a helicopter. Closer picture here (bit.ly/T3yK3s). It can also be seen cutting through the circular star trails in the shot used above!

How does a man move and shape a culture? Our love of storytelling compelled us to find out, so we dug into the story of the Almanzo 100 gravel road race–the granddaddy of them all. We found that a single man’s passion for community has manifested itself in a bike race. The challenge: to race 100 miles of gravel roads without assistance or outside support. Pain and suffering exist temporarily, but the satisfaction of a battle won will empower these racers the rest of their lives. Call it a movement if you’d like but please don’t call it a fad. Gravel racing is here to stay.

This witty and original film is about the open spaces of cities and why some of them work for people while others don't. Beginning at New York's Seagram Plaza, one of the most used open areas in the city, the film proceeds to analyze why this space is so popular and how other urban oases, both in New York and elsewhere, measure up. Based on direct observation of what people actually do, the film presents a remarkably engaging and informative tour of the urban landscape and looks at how it can be made more hospitable to those who live in it.
Running time: 58 min, Year released: 1988
Reviews:
"A complete delight...flows with humor, verve, insight and pleasure...An excellent analysis of major factors of urban design."

The Naked and Famous - "The Sun"

The basic idea of the project is built upon the consideration of creating
a moving sculpture from the recorded motion data of a real person. For
our work we asked a dancer to visualize a musical piece (Kreukeltape by
Machinenfabriek) as closely as possible by movements of her body. She was
recorded by three depth cameras (Kinect), in which the intersection of the
images was later put together to a three-dimensional volume (3d point cloud),
so we were able to use the collected data throughout the further process.
The three-dimensional image allowed us a completely free handling of the
digital camera, without limitations of the perspective. The camera also reacts
to the sound and supports the physical imitation of the musical piece by the
performer. She moves to a noise field, where a simple modification of the
random seed can consistently create new versions of the video, each offering
a different composition of the recorded performance. The multi-dimensionality
of the sound sculpture is already contained in every movement of the dancer,
as the camera footage allows any imaginable perspective.
The body – constant and indefinite at the same time – “bursts” the space
already with its mere physicality, creating a first distinction between the self
and its environment. Only the body movements create a reference to the
otherwise invisible space, much like the dots bounce on the ground to give it
a physical dimension. Thus, the sound-dance constellation in the video does
not only simulate a purely virtual space. The complex dynamics of the body
movements is also strongly self-referential. With the complex quasi-static,
inconsistent forms the body is “painting”, a new reality space emerges whose
simulated aesthetics goes far beyond numerical codes.
Similar to painting, a single point appears to be still very abstract, but the
more points are connected to each other, the more complex and concrete
the image seems. The more perfect and complex the “alternative worlds” we
project (Vilém Flusser) and the closer together their point elements, the more
tangible they become. A digital body, consisting of 22 000 points, thus seems
so real that it comes to life again.

Mont Blanc (French) or Monte Bianco (Italian), meaning "White Mountain", is the highest mountain in the Alps, Western Europe and the European Union. It rises 4,810.45 m (15,782 ft)[2] above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence. It is also sometimes known as La Dame blanche (French for "the White Lady") or Il Bianco (Italian for "the White One").
The mountain lies between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Haute-Savoie, France and the location of the summit is on the watershed line between the valleys of Ferret and Veny in Italy and the Arve Valley in France.
The two most famous towns near Mont Blanc are Courmayeur in Aosta Valley, Italy, and Chamonix in Haute-Savoie, France—the site of the first Winter Olympics. A cable car ascends and crosses the mountain from Courmayeur to Chamonix.
Begun in 1957 and completed in 1965, the 11.6 km (7¼ mi) Mont Blanc Tunnel runs beneath the mountain between these two countries and is one of the major trans-Alpine transport routes.
The Mont Blanc massif is popular for mountaineering, hiking, skiing and snowboarding.
The summit of Mont Blanc is a thick, perennial ice and snow dome whose thickness varies, so no exact and permanent summit elevation can be determined. But accurate measurements have been made. For a long time its official elevation was 4,807 m (15,771 ft). Then in 2002, the IGN and expert surveyors, with the aid of GPS technology, measured it to be 4,810.40 m (15,782 ft 2 in).
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Blanc
The Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m) is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif in the French Alps.
The cable car to the summit, the Téléphérique de l'Aiguille du Midi, was built in 1955 and held the title of the world's highest cable car for about two decades. It still holds the record as the highest vertical ascent cable car in the world, from 1,035 m to 3,842 m. There are two sections: from Chamonix to Plan de l'Aiguille at 2,317 m and then directly, without any support pillar, to the upper station at 3,777 m (the building contains an elevator to the summit). The span of the second section is 2,867 m measured directly, but only 2,500 m measured horizontally. It thus still is the second longest span width, measured directly.
